Our first Showcase for the new year, 2019! Two local favorites help to start us off! Listen to original music by two of our amazing singer/songwriters

ARTISTS PERFORMING:

Sherif Guirguis - plays Blues Rock, as a solo artist and with his electric band. Always in search of that New Sound, he lives and works in Orange County, California, running his own business. He grew up listening to the Doors, Led Zeppelin, the Who, Aerosmith, Howling Wolf, and many others. He is a “frequent face” at local Orange County performance venues.   

Gil Mosard - started playing guitar and harmonica and writing songs in the early 1970’s. In 1978 at the age of 30, he produced an LP of 19 of his songs with his friend David Hitchcock as the lead singer. Gil stopped writing songs for over 30 years until he began performing at Sam Ash Music’s weekly Open Mic Nights in 2012. Since then he has re-written many of his old songs, and written new songs to perform at several local open mic nights.    

ABOUT THE SONGSALIVE! SHOWCASES - Featuring talented songwriters from around the globe, the Songsalive! Showcases are the best industry secret, a great happening all around the world. Songsalive! Showcases are a very cozy, intimate and acoustic environment where media and music industry representatives often drop by to check out the latest talent.  Showcase your music and support our national and international live events and showcases presenting songwriters and artists of original music. Showcases are quality entertainment songwriter performances around the country. All members are eligible to perform at a Songsalive! showcase based on availability, schedule and of course, your talent!

SEEKING SINGER/SONGWRITERS TO PERFORM:
* You must be able to guarantee a min. of 3-5 guests.
* 6 song acoustic or electric set (small ensemble)
* You must be a Songsalive! Pro member. Join on our website.

From Rodney O'Riley, our OC Squad coordinator: Hello Songsalive! members! As we head into 2019, once again we'll be hosting the Songsalive! Orange County Monthly Songwriter Showcase here in Orange County, California on the 2nd Tuesday of every month (except December) at 7:30 pm. It's two 30-minute, 6-song artist sets in a beautiful setting -- Sam Ash Music Store in Westminster. Are you a current Pro Member? Come and join us! We would love to hear you perform. Especially if you haven't presented here for a while, or have never presented here before, definitely consider adding us to your concert schedule!  Candidates should come to our showcase to meet Rodney and to support others, to be considered.

Los Angeles Song Critique Workshop

With Guest Speaker and Grammy Nominated Songwriter: HARRIET SCHOCK on "How To Keep Your Audience/Listeners enthralled".

Are you a songwriter willing to take your songs to the next level?  Workshop your songs to be the best they can be, and get them out to the world. Hosted by Rik Lawrence, of Songsalive!, the largest global songwriters squad, the Songsalive! Workshops are open to all songwriters, composers, lyricists and musicians. First half song critique. Second half industry session, with invaluable guest speakers from the music business. THIS MONTH, Guest Speaker Harriet Schock, on "How To Keep Your Audience/Listeners enthralled". Come ready with your songs for feedback and create long lasting relationships in the songwriting community.

Goals of our Workshops:     1) the SONG and making it the best it can be .     2) providing a community for our members to gather, network, collaborate and learn. Come prepared for song critique (see below)

WHEN: SUNDAY JANUARY 20, 2019 (3rd Sundays of the month)
TIME: 
Starts 12:00pm sharp. Ends at 3pm

COST: Free for Songsalive! PRO Members and $10 for everyone else*. RSVP is mandatory. No-shows and late arrivals will not be invited back.

~ HOW IT WORKS ~

First half song critique. Second half guest speaker talk.

1. Only Pro Members can receive a song critique

2. First come first serve. We randomly choose (draw) from Pro Members who arrive on time but we cannot guarantee everyone will get an opportunity due to time.

3. First timers can only audit the class (watch).

4. Late arrivals will forfeit ability to receive song critique.

 

~ COME PREPARED ON THE DAY ~

- Where applicable, bring 20 typed copies of your lyric sheet (with full contact details).

- Perform live, or bring song on CD, iPod, phone. Hook up to Stereo provided. This is not a "performance" but a presentation of song.

 

~ ABOUT THE SPEAKER ~ 

HARRIET SCHOCK, Grammy Nominated Songwriter.

Harriet Schock wrote the words and music to the Grammy-nominated #1 hit, “Ain’t No Way To Treat A Lady” plus many songs for other artists, TV shows and films. She co-wrote the theme for “Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks,” currently showing in 30 countries. She and her band were featured in Henry Jaglom’s film “Irene In Time” performing 4 of Harriet’s songs. She also scored three other Jaglom films and starred in “Just 45 Minutes from Broadway.“ Jaglom’s recent film, “The M Word,” features Harriet’s song “Bein’ a Girl,” performed on camera at the end of the film. Karen Black wrote the play, “Missouri Waltz,” around five of Harriet’s songs, which ran for 6 weeks at the Blank Theatre in Hollywood as well as in Macon, Georgia. In 2007, Los Angeles Women in Music honored Harriet with their Career Achievement and Industry Contribution award. Harriet teaches songwriting privately, in classes and a popular online course by private email.  www.harrietschock.com
