Welcome to another edition of Songsalive! SONGNOTES, our regular newsletter for everything you need to know about the craft and business of songwriting.
A tagline song is a song without a chorus, but has a line that repeats called a tagline or tag. Examples of tagline songs are "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "Oklahoma" or "New York, New York." If you are having a problem writing a memorable chorus, try writing a tagline song instead. Base is on a character or point of view. Then share your song at an upcoming Songsalive! workshop or on our SHOUTS page.
In this edition of SONGNOTES, we have an excerpt from an article with more helpful tips to inspire your songwriting from SongsaliveU in our Backstage portal. We also information on our workshops, showcases, and Sponsored Events, as well as opportunities from our Songshop to help you get your music out there!

Turn a Story into Lyrics
Love
to watch shows or read books? You can craft your next set of song
lyrics from a story that you enjoy. Just pick out your favorite scene
and write down all the details and thoughts that come to mind. Next,
convert what you wrote down into lyrics; it can be a single lyric or
a whole song, it doesn’t matter as long as you get started.
