The Craft & Business of Songwriting

Musical Rockstar

The craft of songwriting is the creative side of songwriting. Improvisation, form, theory, techniques for writers' block, and more are tools you can use in crafting your song. The business of songwriting concerns itself with things like copyright, music licensing, performance rights organizations, etc., as well as more general business topics like strategic planning, management, finance, marketing, etc. Through our various programs, Songsalive! hopes to help educate songwriters on both the craft & business of songwriting.

SPOTLIGHT - Songsalive! Orange County Chapter

Orange County Showcase Review: Mike V and RD Girard Jazz the Audience with their Music at Orange County Songsalive! November Showcase

Two skilled veterans of our stage came back to join us for the last Songsalive! Orange County Songwriter Showcase of 2015, filling up Sam Ash Music in Westminster, California with some bluesy bluster and soulful ballads. Mike V was up first, and as usual his licks were chunky and his lyrics were heart-felt and homey. Then finally, RD Girard had the audience alternately laughing and crying with his songs and the stories in between. The audience at Sam Ash (and the customers passing by casually even) walked away jazzed from the evening of music. We skip the show in December (people are busy ‘round the holidays!) but make sure to join us in January of 2016 when we welcome Bobbo Byrnes (of the Fallen Stars) and the Fossil Tones to our stage!
