SPOTLIGHT - Songsalive! Team Member: Jimi Yamagishi
Jimi Yamagishi is a co-host for the Songsalive!/SongNet Songwriters Saturday Night Live + Open Mic for the Los Angeles chapter. Describing his music as “Somewhere between Sushi & BBQ with a lil’ spiritual sauce on the side,” Jimi Yamagishi brings a different flavor to the singer-songwriter table. Years of session work in a wide variety of genres allow him to go from jazz to bluegrass without losing his unique signature. Born & raised in East Los Angeles, his cross-cultural influences from teriyaki to tortillas gave him a broader perspective & appreciation for the world around him. As the current director of SongNet, Jimi is a songwriter advocate, journalist, motivational speaker & someone who knows the importance of knowing people for who they are, not for what they can do for you.
